The counterbalance is one of the key strengths of a TODCO overhead door, and not just because it provides the lift. It also gives you something else – safety. The reason: TODCO's counterbalance is designed around a single spring, unlike others that have a two-spring system. And one is definitely better.

The TODCO counterbalance is calibrated to the door's weight and size to ensure reliable, smooth operation.
Plus, the spring is built to hold the door up safely in the unlikely event of a cable break. There's no sudden drop, no unexpected hazard, no wrestling trying to open a heavy door.

In contrast, should a cable break with the two-spring system, disabling one of the springs, the counterbalance usually doesn't have the strength to hold the door up. It can slam shut, and you don't want to be in its way. Getting the door open again to unload the cargo and to make repairs is another problem – usually involving a forklift.

TODCO didn't stop at a safer counterbalance, either. Our cables are the only ones that are aircraft quality 7 x 19 stainless steel – seven individual cables, each constructed of 19 separate strands of stainless steel, interwoven for strength and flexibility.
